They tell us that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and there are plenty of reasons why that is true. A good breakfast will get your metabolism going, and on top of that, you will discover that it gives you the energy that you need to keep working and to think clearly. However, it can be hard to find the time that you need for breakfast, so think about what your options might be.

One-Eyed Jack

A one-eyed jack is essentially an egg fried on bread. Essentially, all you need to do is to cut a small hole in a piece of bread. Drop the bread into an oiled skillet and then drop an egg into the hole of the bread, lining up the yolk with the hole. Flip the bread and the egg when the bread starts to be a little crispy, and finish cooking the other side. This is a fantastic way to get some starch and some protein before you head out to face your day!

Fruit and Bacon

Fruit and bacon might seem like an odd combination, but the truth is that the two flavors complement each other very well. One way to have this breakfast on a regular basis is to simply cut up a lot of fruit the night before. In the morning, fry up a piece of bacon and crumble it over the fruit. One great combination is cantaloupe, honeydew, and bacon. The sweet taste of the melon goes very well with the smoky taste of the bacon.

When you are looking for a lot of fiber in your diet, take a moment to add granola to your breakfast menu. The nice thing about granola is that it keeps very well. It is a good choice when you are in a hurry, and on top of that, you can substitute cow’s milk with other things, like rice milk or coconut milk, providing a new and more subtle flavor.

When you cannot sit down for breakfast, and you need to eat on the go, make sure that you think about doing some baking. Muffins are a great choice for this, because you can make twelve or twenty four at once, and they can be picked up as you rush out the door. Choose muffins that are on the dense side so that they will keep you full for a longer period of time, and include things like berries or nuts to give them some flavor.
